Time flies............ at work..
Now into my 4th week of work, it has been a good learning experience following different HSE engineers taking their tasks at hand onboard different types of vessels. Our responsibility is very high but it is not without great ease making sure that sub-contractors as well as fellow employees (no matter how old they are) maintain the high safety standards which had been put forward by the shipyard. Some thought the job is just that but sad to say it wasn't.
My fellow colleagues have been great. Working with them is a pleasure. They are more than willing to help out in any matters even those who are of lower 'ranks'. A good majority of my colleagues (safety firemen to project supervisors to asst engineers to engineers ....) are Malay so communication is breeze. All are abang2 types arh and its interesting to know tt most of them are engaged already. The other majority of my colleagues are Indians although most of them are not local at all. They are recruited to communicate with the Bangladeshi or Indian workers.
Chinese guys.... there are a few but out of that few, most are documentation engineers who do office related jobs. Dont ask me why.
Ohh and I had a fellow engineer who actually just resigned as Senior Prison Officer after 3 years and he eventually took up this HSE job. He told me that his previous job is fascinating and pays well but he also realises how mundane it can be and there arent many opportunities for growth. Upon hearin that, im happy I made the right choice rejecting the Senior Prison Officer offer. Fuhhhhhh..... Thank you Allah.
Fasting hasn't affect my workrate at all. Half of my working day is spent onboard the ship and it is only there that my energy level starts spiralling downwards. But during lunchtime, I lie flat in the study room sleeping throughout! Hehehe.. Alhamdulillah I even managed to do tarawih daily unaffected by the time I reached home (usually before 6pm) and I pray to Allah that He gave me strength as I look forward to every weekend and my next pay day (2 more weeks!!!)
