Johor (or Malaysia) is becoming the next mexico city- kidnaps, robberies, organised crimes and corrupt law enforcement.

Its high time i mention about this issue. I dont know if saying this gets me into more trouble. I just dont want to be like another typical blogs which talk about something so politically correct entries. Thats not what i want anw. And i hate blogs which says that "i dont have any ideas or enthusiasm about what to update the blog". Might as well dont put. Crap. (marah habis eh wan!)

Btw, Im totally angered and annoyed about so many incidents of kidnapping, robbing, stealing, crimes and bribery. All this happens so freely in our neighbour country, Johor. Recents cases touch on the 2 kidnappings and how they surrendered $1 million bucks to the kidnappers.

If u guys have watched movies like "MAN ON FIRE", u know what i mean. Who is to be blamed? There is so many jewelleries shops being robbed in malaysia, factories robbed at gunpoint, singaporeans being threatened and beaten up, cases of housebreaking in daylight and so many other cases which happen so FREELY in Johor.

In mexico, for example, organised crimes have reached to a point that even the law enforcements are among the head honchos. All for money. No less.

Our neighbour might encounter the same problem when insufficient police enforcements, incompetencies in handling cases of robberies (or kidnaps), increasing number of corrupt officials and the less strict enforcing of laws and rules in the country. It is now not safe to travel for even a short while to JOhor Bahru without having fears of being pickpocketed or threatened at parang-point or being bashed for just a few ringgits.

It is indeed disheartening to know that the crimes took place without any intervention of the police and when it already happens, what is known in the news is always the police head saying."yeah we are looking into it. And a report has been made". OR what we always know is the slow progress in finding the culprit. Soon, these incidents quiten down without any progress to catch the bad guys and the vicious cycle starts again. It is widely known that most high profile crimes are actually organised with the 'help' of police officers. "Take the money, Be quiet and close the case," they would tell the law enforcers.

Im not too sure how or what is to be blamed. Newspapers reports that Singaporeans love to struts and show off their wealth. Thick wallet, showing lots of cash just to pay RM2 for a few goreng pisang, carrying jewelleries around their neck or arms as if they are selling them while walking and of course spending so much in one day (this is Singaporean tradition).

Well not all are like that. So we point finger to another source. The law enforcers. CORRUPT? Maybe. INCOMPETENCE? Not too sure. If the laws are strict, the police took the pains to patrol more often, tighten security around complexes to protect travellers like us and the ease in getting help, then i can actually see a drastic drop in the crimes.

More often than not, the culprits themselves are the one that need to be curbed. They have become so brave so as to kidnap and demand ransoms just like the old days. I thought that in this 21st century with all these technologies, we can detect the location of the kidnappers even before they can leave their homes for a drink at mamak stall. Just across the Johor Straits, we can hear news of pple welding parangs and knifes to steal money from shoppers. DESPERATE or BRAVE?

Well, so much for all the comments ive made. Time to do some work, Malaysia. There is so much that they can learn from Singapore about homeland security and hopefully one day when i go visit, i wouldnt be worried about being robbed at daylight. Maybe just worried about having no more "cheap dvds" to buy.

"A New Generation of Lagu Jiwang"

During my primary school to secondary school days, 'jiwang songs' are usually Rock Bands from Malaysia or Singapore. Bands like Wings, Exists, Lovehunter, Ekamatra, Lestari, Bumiputra Rockers and not forgetting Spoon and the lists goes on and on. Their 'malar segar' (evergreen) songs never fails to impress even till now. Jiwang habis!! But now, its so sad to see that malaysia-singapore region did not replace enough to take over those superb bands that existed during my younger years. Now most singers are solo and if there are bands, it usually sux. (except the new exist.. haha)

NOw times have changed. Most bands never last. They will split and soon lead singers take on solo roles. Some of the band songs sux and the lyrics are never meant to mean anything. Main hantam asalkan boleh nyanyi. For me, my taste for jiwang songs has shifted to another country, INDONESIA. The country known for dangdut and keroncong (if u know what i mean).

Bands have sprouted there like mushrooms after a rainy days. And these guys 'cool-refreshing-jiwang songs' live up to their name and have came out with albums that doesnot only contain one hit wonder, but nearly all the songs are SUPERB. Cayalah Indo-band.

Bands from Sheila on 7, Peterpan, Adaband, Radja, Dewa, Gigi , Padi etc have all produced numerous range of music from Soul to R&B to Rock ballad. Its time to change gear and listen to all these bands for a taste of new Jiwang songs. U can never be disapponted.

My favourite songs are currently:

Radja ---> 1. angin 2. Jujur 3. Benci Bilang Cinta 4. Bulan 5. Aku ada karena kau ada

and Adaband-----> Kau Auraku + Manusia Bodoh + Haruskah Aku mati

Check out my favourite adaband music video:
