"First Day of Work!"
Prof Sanggu: So Muhammad, whart do you think MichroEmughsion is?
Me: Sorry... what do u say?
Prof Sanggu: MichroEmughsion. In nanotechnorogy.... its serparathed in two... one solid and the other one erquid.
Me: What.. can u repeat that? (thinking: what is he trying to say??)
Me: Do u mean microemulsion? And that word u say is liquid??
Dr. Sanggu: Yeah.. yup..
Me: (in mind: YA allah.. kuatkanlah kesabaranku ini... Dan kuatkanlah pendengaranku)
OH my!!! My first day of work cannot be any better. Alot of miscommunication and lots of waiting too..
Here's the deal...
We waited for a long 3 hours at Jurong Island Entrance just to get everyone in NUS as well as NTU students to get the Jurong Island Entry PASS. I managed to catch a short wink while waiting for my turn. Once all are done, it was already close to 12. Means its lunchtime. WOOHOO...
The canteen at ICES isnt anything to woaw about because there are only 1 pathetic stall selling halal food (alhamdulillah.. i even tot of fasting if there isnt any malay food) and there are lots of seats though. After lunch, the HR manager brought us to MPSH to be frozen in there while getting our lab coats and plenty of forms to fill in. An email is then given to each of us and YES i got the LONGEST EMAIL EVER!

Subsequently it became another waiting game for 1 and a half hour before a speech and orientation is given to us. U know, the safety talk and the self-orientation to introduce ourselves to everyone.
Oh i was shocked to see a number of NTU students. Quite a number actually. And they came from materials science faculty to bioengineering ones. No im not belittling NTU coz i know they are smart too. Thing is its a chemical engineering research centre. NEvermind lah.
And lastly i gotta meet my supervisor. Dr. Sanggu Kim. A nice fellow who cracks a lot of jokes though most of time i laughed not knowing what he is saying. Treated me to a coffee and we had a one on one talk about working together and how flexible he is and how he knows i had lots of ENTHUSIASM and CONFIDENCE. and kept saying im SMART coz im from NUS CHEM ENGINE.... (WHAT!! pls go and see my results sir!) SO i just replied I will do my best!
I had so much of communication problems with him but i dont show it. Sir, seriusly i cannot understand your korean-english coz the words u pronounce means more than 2 things to me. I cannot decipher everything u say so forgive me lah... My ears work xtra hard to listen carefully all that u have said but the message it transfers to my brain is different! hahahahhaa...
HOwever, im glad that i am one of the lucky ones to get the project under you Sir coz i heard i beaten a few others to this one. Hope that we can work together well coz im going to be attached there for 6 months!! aiyaaahhh...
Guess thats it for now. I have research to do at home and prepare for work. (read: reading up on concepts and knowledge from Chem Eng Books)
Oh fyi, sentosa updates will come soon. Coz i havent download the pics and all.. Soon.. very soon..
