" MALAY POWER"
I have to take my hats off to two Malay guys who have won back to back Best Foreign Cadet at Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, England. They beat about 30 odd foreign cadet officers from around the world to clinch the prestigious honour of being crowned that title. A friend told me that the Straits Times didnt even feature him at all. Bias?

Actually early this year on the 14th January, it was won by Iskandar Abdullah (1st Singaporean to win in 14 years) and end of this year was Sheikh Abubakar. Credit is given to them for all their efforts and determination to be among the best and this itself spurs the Malay/Muslim community that we have what it takes to be among the best. Especially in the Army.
Yeah. Army. Coz we are barred from being in commando. Barred from taking HIgh Post in the Army. Precluded from joining Air Force (except one that i know of) and of course barred from sensitive posts (intelligence etc). The government dictate this and theres nothing the Malay can do except to show that the minority can excel equally well.
So when i hear another Singaporean Muslim (i think he is arab) take the award this year at the Military Academy, i wasnt shocked but full of praise. For him to be handpicked for the Academy Training already shows one thing and getting credit for the performance is another.
I can feel the pain that he went through coz i spend my NS days in an active unit and i know how tough to go tru 20-30km walk and its only in SIngapore, furthest is Taiwan. But i think this is peanut for guys like them who trek at below freezing point at cold countries carrying load up to 40kg.
Oh and the coolest thing is that Iskandar's batch had 2 princes from Bahrain and Bhutan and Sheikh pulak has Prince William. Dahsyat!!
Of course other academic achivements have special mention here. That we have malay clinching top PSLE award. And such good news show that WE are on the rise. Not to take over the Majority but to take pride in being a minority and shows that it is not impossible to compete at the highest level.
But but...i cant bring myself to even think of my second In-camp happening next year june. I thought 2 years of suffering in my unit will end there but i have 9 more years to go to end my reservist days. Ippt havent clear too. Aiyaaaaaaahhh... honestly i hate those guys who slack during their NS days and have no Reservist to attend to now.
WAAHHH.. Sakit hati wooo...
