" Down Memory Lane" It is only a momemt ago when i turn on the TV that i saw an ad about kids with cerebral palsy. It didnt took me a few secs to remember someone so dear to me who was born handicapped and has brain malfunction and who lived her life together with my grandma throughout her life.
I recall the late Kak Linda (thats what i used to call her) who was born handicapped, cannot speak nor walk, has brain malfunction and however has the ability to remember people close to her. When i was in my primary school days, my relatives used to gather together in my late grandma house every friday. I recall how Kak Linda would drag herself to the gate when my family arrives. According to my late grandma, she loves me and my sis. So when my late grandma mentions 'wan' or 'sabariah', she would smile with glee and she will clapped her hands with much gestures.
Now i miss all those moments when i would salam her hand (she is the oldest grandchild to my grandmother and would be 30+ if she is alive) when i drop by grandma's place and then tried playing with her aoround the house. Though she cant speak nor stand, my grandma loves her alot. Caring for her in her 3-room flat (my grandma lives alone with her after grandpa died). After my auntie gave birth to her long time ago, Kak linda was already under the care of my grandma who accepts her when my auntie refused to accept the fact that her 1st child was a handicapped.
My mom always tell me that kak Linda will go to heavens as she didnot have any sins and how she was born to Earth as an example to people who are born without any deformaties.
Kak linda passed away 2 years after my grandma died 5 years ago. During that time, she returned to the arms of her original mother who took cared of her until she passed away after battling cancer. i can vivdly remember the day when she closed her eyes for the last time and weigh so meagrely that when my dad carried her from the hospital bed, she is as small as a child. I shed tears when i see her condition during her battle with cancer. She left this world without fears and lived this life without worries, knowing there are people around her who cared for her.
Kak Linda, i will always remember u and u will always be in my heart.
Wan.
